About me

I was 11 years old and from that moment on I could no longer imagine myself doing another thing. The next summer my embroidery was much bigger.

I was embroidering non-stop, landscapes, flowers, houses, plants, animals, the sea. I tried new techniques, crosses, beads, satin stitch. At some point, people liked my works and started buying them. First, they were my friends, then my friends' friends and, finally, strangers I didn't know. My works were held in offices, child's bedrooms and in studies.

My name is Oksana Gorn, I am a lawyer. A lawyer who loves creativity. For the first time, like all girls, I picked up a thread with a needle in my hands in first-grade labor lessons. Sewing buttons is nothing exciting.

Once I refused to spend my summer holidays at my grandma's, and my mother gave me an embroidery. A magic bag with threads and canvas, which was supposed to result in a landscape. It worked! Bright, summery, fresh.

Thoughts on creativity

Embroidery is an additional reality which is carried away to another world. You can embroider something that in life cannot be. Embroidery is a slow painting. There was a simple white fabric, stitch by stitch a picture appears. It shows up on the canvas.

The most important thing is to take a "canvas", a needle in your hands and start creating. And methodical stitches, folded into crosses, and they into plots, into paintings.
